Xiaomi at an event in India on November 2 presented the new Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite smartphones. These are the first two models of the new Redmi Y series of the company. Strong part of Redmi Y1 is its 16 megapixel front camera with LED flash.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is a smartphone built around a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) LCD screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass curved 2.5D glass and is powered by a Snapdragon 435 chipset with an octa-core CPU with clock 1.4 GHz.The phone runs the MIUI 8 operating system based on Android Nougat 7.0. The Redmi Y1 features a 16MP front view sensor with F2.0 aperture, 76 degree viewing angle and LED flash. The rear camera offers a 13 MP sensor.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is launched in two versions: with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, and with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Both models have a fingerprint reader on the back and three slots – two for nano SIM cards and one for micro SD cards. Redmi Y1 is powered by a 3080mAh battery, weighs 153 grams and measures 153×76.2×7.7mm.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite is a smartphone built around a 5.5-inch HD resolution (720p) LCD and is powered by a Snapdragon 425 chipset with a quad-core CPU with 1.4GHz clock. operating system is Android 7.0 Nougat and offers a photographic subframe with a 5MP F2.0 front sensor and a 13MP rear flash sensor with LED flash and PDAF. The battery is of 3080mAh. Redmi Y1 Lite also offers three slots – two for nanoSIM cards and one for microSD card.
Regarding prices and availability, the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is offered in India in the color variations of Gold and Dark Gray for the price of INR 8,999 and in the version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage costs around Rs 10,999. The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is priced at Rs 10,999 in the only configuration with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite will be available in India starting November 8 through the Mi stores and online from Amazon India.
