snapdragon 450 dual camera
Dual cameras on smartphones are reaching lower price ranges: Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 450, another processor that wipes the line between the company’s chip series. Just as the Snapdragon 65x looked more like the Snapdragon 8xx, the new component looks more like the Snapdragon 6xx.
The Snapdragon 450 has a 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 eight-core processor, Adreno 506 GPU (same as Snapdragon 625) and the same technologies as the more expensive brother: Quick Charge 3.0, LPDDR3 memory support, 14 nanometer and 4G modem with speeds of up to 300 Mb / s of download and 150 Mb /s of upload.
The image signal processor (ISP) is lower than that used in the Snapdragon 625, so the hardware video decoding is limited to 1080p (on the most expensive chip, it is 4K). But the rest is basically the same. Including, the Snapdragon 450 has the same pinning of the 625 , then the manufacturers can adopt the new chip in projects of existing smartphones.
It is a successor of the Snapdragon 435, which was not even released on smartphones sold in Brazil. Compared to the previous chip, it offers 25% more CPU performance, 25% more GPU performance and up to four hours of additional battery life. The USB driver has been upgraded from 2.0 to 3.0, and video capture has gone from 1080p30 to 1080p60.
In addition, the Snapdragon 450 supports two 13-megapixel image sensors with bokeh effect in real time. This opens the way for dual-camera smartphones priced at less than $ 2,000, which are now equipped with the Snapdragon 625, such as Zenfone 3 Zoom . The Snapdragon 4xx have more “mass” power, so much that they have already been adopted in more than 1,900 (!) Smartphone models.
The new processor will reach manufacturers in the third quarter; Smartphones are expected to be commercially released by the end of the year.
