According to Korean media The Bell , Samsung has opted for the code name “Star” for its next flagship, the Galaxy S9 (and “Star 2” for the larger model). Also, it seems that the development of the device has started about 3 or 4 months ahead of schedule , but as expected, there is still no detail on what the S9 could offer, except for a higher resolution Infinity Display.
For now the only thing we can do is assume that the Galaxy S9 could represent an upgrade similar to that between the Galaxy S6 / S6 edge and the Galaxy S7 edge, with more innovative features and greater changes compared to what we see in the Flagship of this year in relation to the devices of last year.
The Galaxy S8 was nicknamed “Project Dream” during its development, while the Galaxy Note 8 bring the code name “Great” , which is one of the simplest nicknames associated with a flagship Samsung.
Just a few weeks ago, just after the launch of the Galaxy S8, the news broke that Samsung was already working with Qualcomm to prepare the Galaxy S9 processor. In addition, the company started the development in a way so early especially to avoid any problems such as those with the Galaxy Note 7.
On the other hand, last April the company also started to prepare the first screen samples for the Galaxy S9 , and according to several sources close to the manufacturer, Samsung is already working on the device modules (sensors, cameras, etc.).
It remains to be seen what other surprises Samsung bring us for next year, although the only thing that is clear at the moment is that there will still be two Galaxy S9 models, with different screen sizes and resolutions.
