After a long wait and infinity of leaks, we finally have an official presentation date for the future update of Xiaomi smartphones. It will be the 26 of July, along with the staging of the Xiaomi Mi 5X. However, we now also know that the MIUI 9 Beta will be available the next day, July 27, and will initially be for the Xiaomi Mi 6, in addition to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X.
MIUI 9 is postulated as a major software update for Xiaomi smartphones because of the stack of changes and optimizations that it is expected to integrate. On the other hand, it all points out that the GUI will not noticeably change its appearance. However, the new features in the form of new tools and improvements in functionality have generated a great expectation around the update.
Beta of MIUI 9, available next week
An update that we know for sure will be presented next to the Xiaomi Mi 5X next July 26. However, the event will also be preceded by the start of the tests with the first Beta of MIUI 9. And it is that the company will install the first Beta of MIUI 9 the next day, July 27 and will own the Xiaomi Mi 6 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X the first to have the opportunity to download, install and test.
In fact, as it transpired through Weibo, the company would have already begun the process of registration and acceptance of the first members of the test program. As we have already said, the Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4X will initially be preferred. Later, other models such as Xiaomi Mi 5s, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, Xiaomi Mi Note 2, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 and Xiaomi Redmi 4, will enter the lot. However, it is expected that the rest of compatible models can also enter the testing phase of the MIUI 9 Beta later.
What’s New in MIUI 9
Although we will have an opportunity to know in depth the news that will integrate MIUI 9 next week, over the last months we have had occasion to know some of the improvements that will come with firmware from the leaks. To the already optimized optimizations to improve the fluency and the autonomy, will be added renewed tools like the multitasking, or the inclusion of a native form of multi Ventana. Also, there will be many small improvements that we will know little by little. An example of this kind of novelties we saw yesterday from the filtration of a screenshot of the MIUI 9 Beta, which shows a slight change in the main screen dock.
