Apple will not be able to integrate the fingerprint sensor into the display. The Bloomberg news agency , whose sources are also mostly well-informed, yesterday made a corresponding prediction: Apple will instead rely entirely on the new facial recognition function .
Wireless charging only with separate accessories
Ming-Chi Kuo had some more predictions. Apple will be able to use the iPhone 8 for the first time “wireless” charging, thus induction. However, only a normal power supply with USB lightning cable will be included in the scope of supply. If you want to recharge wirelessly, you need to buy additional accessories – that is, the Qi wireless standard. That Apple would put on this, had already announced through Apple’s membership in the Wireless Power Consortium .
Interestingly, according to Apple Kuo, it will be the normal 5-watt power adapter with USB-A connector – although the iPhone 8 should actually allow faster charging via USB-C. Kuo is therefore at odds with the statements of other analysts who had predicted the inclusion of a 10-watt USB-C power supply.
Also iPhone 7s (Plus) with glass housing
It is also remarkable that Kuo again predicts that all new iPhones will support wireless charging: next to the iPhone 8 also the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. Because of this, Apple will switch with all devices to a glass case. Recently, pictures of a glass case made the round, which does not fit the expected design of the iPhone 8 – obviously fit to the iPhone 7s and not, as initially suspected, to the iPhone SE . And of course there could be an iPhone-SE successor with induction support.
All iPhones get faster RAM
Further predictions of the analyst concern the working memory of the new iPhones: The iPhone 7s will continue like the iPhone 7 with 2 GB of RAM, the iPhone 7s Plus as the iPhone 7 Plus with 3 GB of RAM. The iPhone 8 is also to get 3 GB of RAM. However, compared to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, there is a decisive advantage: the DRAM transmission speeds will be 10 to 15 percent higher than with the current models.
