Earlier this year we saw Lenovo beginning to bring the Android Nougat update to the free Moto Z terminals. Now, just a few months later, the deployment of Android 7.1.1 for Moto Z starts. The update is being deployed via OTA for Hong Kong and Indonesian users, but hopefully sooner rather than later, it will expand internationally.
The Moto Z is Lenovo’s first modular smartphone that was launched last year and among many other features included Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed. Now TechDroider reports that the update of Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Moto Z changes the firmware version of the phone to NPL26.118-20 and includes the July Android Security updates for the device.
Android 7.1.1 News for the Moto Z
In addition to the Android security updates for July, this update also installs on the Lenovo phone the video application called Google, Duo. Another new feature that has highlighted users who have begun to receive the software is that the icons now have a rounded touch and can enjoy the shortcuts of applications as well as an improved Doze function.
Although the update of Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the Moto Z is being deployed initially in Hong Kong and Indonesia, Moto is expected to expand the deployment to other users in the coming weeks. As always, Lenovo recommends that before performing an update of these characteristics we must have at least one 50 percent battery available before starting the process. To upgrade, users should go to Settings> About Phone> Software Updates and check if there is an update available for the smartphone or not.
In this way, the arrival of Android 7.1.1 to Moto Z puts Lenovo as one of the manufacturers that before is distributing this version of the operating system. Last month we already saw as another smartphone in its catalog, Moto Z Play, also received the mentioned update of Android Nougat.
As with the Moto Z, the Moto Z Play with Android 7.1.1 enjoys a change in the notification system that will make them more efficient, which in turn leads to lower battery consumption or data rate. Of course, both handsets will be able to enjoy the Android Nougat Multiventry Mode as well as the smartphones that already have the update.
